Launch of the Public Prize – René Pechère Literary Prize

Dear member,
Dear friend,

Dear garden and landscape enthusiast,

A new year opens, a new chapter begins — and, fortunately, the same passion for the garden and landscape remains intact.

From Brussels, we send our warmest wishes: health, inspiration, a gentle rain when the earth needs it and generous sunshine at the right moments.

Before looking to the future, we wish to sincerely express our gratitude to each and every one of you: members, friends, benefactor members, sponsors, partners, lifetime friends and faithful supporters. Your trust, engagement and constancy form the foundation of our work. Without you, no prizes, no encounters, no debate, no transmission.

In this letter, we share our mission and vision, look back on an intense and meaningful 2025, and present a particularly rich calendar of activities for 2026. You will find information about our literary prizes, our partnerships and some tributes that have deeply moved us. We also keep you informed of practical matters ensuring the continuity, independence and quality of our work.

If this letter inspires you, we would be grateful if you could share it with friends, colleagues or garden and landscape architecture enthusiasts who might identify with our mission. Each new reader strengthens our network, enriches debate and helps increase the visibility and impact of the Comité René Pechère.

In short, this is not simply a newsletter, but an invitation to continue together to watch over, transmit and act.

With our most sincere greetings,

Nicolas de Villenfagne – President of the Board of Directors

« Ami, le jardin est temple et message, il est rythme et forme dans le frémissement de la vie » (R. Pechère)

The objective of the Comité René Pechère is to disseminate knowledge about the Art of Gardens and Landscape and to raise awareness of the Landscape Architect profession. It is a great profession, requiring technical, horticultural and artistic skills. Its contributions are essential in a world that needs green spaces and landscapes to make our living environments more liveable.

Every two years, the Comité Pechère awards various literary prizes jointly organised with CIVA (International Centre for the City, Architecture and Landscape), highlighting works of excellence dedicated to the art of gardens and landscape.
