Public Prize – René Pechère Literary Prize

Le Prix Littéraire René Pechère honours, every two years, a remarkable work on gardens, landscapes and nature, in tribute to one of Belgium’s greatest landscape architects, René Pechère. Created by the Comité René Pechère to celebrate literature in the service of the art of gardens and nature, it shines a light on authors passionate about these themes. For the first time this year, the Comité René Pechère is organising, alongside the Literary Prize, the Public Prize.

On the occasion of the next edition of the Jardins d’Aywiers in May 2026, the Comité René Pechère will present a selection of 10 works for the Public Prize. For this very first time, it is YOU who will designate the 3 finalists of the Public Prize.

The books will be available on-site at the Jardins d’Aywiers for free consultation, so that you may discover and browse through them during your visit. These 10 works were chosen by a selection committee in February 2026. You can already vote via the online platform.

How to take part in the vote?

Discover the selection of 10 books and click the link below to cast your vote. Or take advantage of your visit to the Jardins d’Aywiers to discover them and vote on-site.

Voting closes on Sunday 3 May 2026 at noon, at the end of the spring festival at the Jardins d’Aywiers. Your visit will be an ideal opportunity to discover the books and make your voice heard.

The 3 finalists will be announced during May 2026. It will then be up to the Public Prize jury to designate the winners of this 2026 prize.

The official award ceremony for the Public Prize will take place on Friday 2 October 2026, at the autumn festival of the Jardins d’Aywiers.

The Comité René Pechère is delighted to share with you this new literary dimension of the event, celebrating the beauty of gardens through words as much as through landscapes.
