French-language Literary Prize

Launched in 2008 at the initiative of Jean Noël Capart (landscape architect) and Paul Grosjean (member of the asbl Bibliothèque René Pechère), the Prix René Pechère was created during the centenary of the birth of this eminent garden architect. The Francophone Prix René Pechère is organised every two years, alternating with the Dutch-language prize.

The Prix littéraire René Pechère was created by the asbl Bibliothèque René Pechère. Today, the Prize is organised jointly by this association (which changed its name to Comité René Pechère once it no longer managed the Library) and the Centre International pour la Ville, l’Architecture et le Paysage (CIVA). Its vocation rests on highlighting a book of excellence dedicated to the art of gardens and landscape. To meet the requirements defined by the regulations, pre-selected authors must satisfy 3 conditions: original text in French, scientific rigour, and quality of style and iconography.

Since its creation, the Prix René Pechère has gained international recognition throughout the French-speaking world. (S.I.)
